Codenames is social deduction game designed by Vlaada Chvátil which was released in 2015. This game number one in the party category of Board Game Geek. It’s a perfect game for your double date night or social get together.

Codenames is a very popular and well loved game that has spawned a huge catalog of rethemed expansions everything from Disney, Marvel, Harry Potter to extra large versions of the game exist and have their own unique followings. This game has been highly praised for its simple yet highly social gameplay, This game is also great to play over and over again due to the huge amount of potentials combinations this is a great introductory game to newcomers. The quality of the components in the game, are great due to the thick card that is used i would however recommend buying sleeves to protect the cards. .

In Codenames, two teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their agents first. Spymasters give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. Their teammates try to guess words of the right color while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team. And everyone wants to avoid the assassin.

Codenames is a simple game as first with an easy to understand rulebook and set of rules. The joy of this game comes from the social aspect of the game and the arguments you will find yourself having with your partner about your selection of choices. Codenames needs to be played with 4  players, this is an absolute must for your next double date night.

  • Card sleeves should be purchased due to the excessive manhandling of all the cards these components may wear out quickly.
