You would find it a difficult task to find a person in a group of 90’s kids that have never played the classic game rollercoaster tycoon.

This gaming classic put you into the dream job you didnt know you wanted of a theme park creator as you picked rides and tried to earn revenue from your park guests while also meeting sanitary and safety requirements.

About Unfair

Well Unfair takes this theme and brings it into the context of a board game you can play with your friends

Your Goal is to Build the city’s greatest theme park, doing whatever it takes to make it successful.

Players have the options of mixing up there favourite themes, from choices like Pirate’s, Robot’s, Vampire’s, Jungle/Nature, Ninja, and Gangster.

They then select different attractions they would like to build and upgrade them to match blueprints, stack up towering rides, or simply make a really profitable attraction and bring in all the cash.

However, you will need to watch out as your competitors may take the options of paying off the safety inspectors to close your rides or hiring “hooligans” to vandalise your park!

Players will need to build wisely and protect there park to make sure they come out on top!

Whatever happens, it’s bound to be Unfair.

Gameplay

Your goal in Unfair is to build the park that scores the most points at game end, using the three main ways to score points:

  • Build impressively tall attractions with lots of upgrades.
  • Match your park to blueprints to achieve hidden goals.
  • Buy your way to victory with good old-fashioned cash.

Players can also play events to help themselves and hinder your opponents as you build your park over the course of 8 rounds.

They can recruit staff members to help you or build a super attraction with a unique ability.

Or choose to take options like Bribing officials and blackmailing politicians are entirely optional and sometimes recommended.

The theme packs technically have 57 cards each, including an individual Round and Scoring Summary card, but to save printing a page with 1 card on it for each pack, we’ve merged them all into one file.

(Honestly, this is here mainly to show you what to expect. Actually matching the cut-lines front and back, or cutting out hex-shaped tokens is a lot of effort when you could use basically anything else as money instead. Poker chips work well.)

Additional items

You’ll need something to use as a Starting Player marker.

You’ll need something to use as money. During prototyping and testing, we used poker chips and set their values to 1, 5, 25, 125.

You’ll also need something to use as a Current Step marker. We’ve found a large dice (or die, for the purists) is a good size and easy to slide down the Current Step track.

Sleeving

We recommend plain clear sleeves if you plan to print both front and back of the cards, and using a cheap playing card or leftover common Magic card to give some stiffness. For six theme packs, you’ll need 348 clear standard poker-sized sleeves, 2.5″ x 3.5″ or approx 63mm x 89mm.
